Yoga Nidra, or "yoking sleep," is an ancient healing meditation used by yogis for centuries. It allows us to enter non-REM cycle sleep in a state of wakefulness, accessing the body's natural ability for healing, rejuvenation, and somatic release. Yoga Nidra provides a way to enter into a Theta-Delta state with full-awareness in order to release with intentionality. Through non-doing and deep relaxation we are able to be yoked, or fully integrated, and experience the bliss of dis-identification with thoughts. We are then primed to receive profound epiphanies and breakthroughs from our body's own inherent wisdom.
The first portion of our workshop will involve educational content, writing activities, and discussion. Then, we'll transition into Thai Yoga sequences where partners get to give and receive guided stretches with one another in order to prepare and relax the physical body. Then we will create our "nests" with all of the essential comfort items: mats, bolsters, blankets, eye bags, pillows, head wraps, palm stones, and more. From there, Stephanie will guide you through breath work, visualizations, and into Yoga-Nidra-land.
Come wearing comfortable, relaxed clothing, including socks and a light sweater. Each participant will be provided with their own yoga mat, flat bolster, round bolster, wool blanket, and eye pillow. Please bring any other comfort items that will better facilitate your meditation experience, such as: favorite head wrap, wool socks, gemstone, pillows, etc. Please also bring a notebook, pen, and water bottle. Light snacks will be provided.
This event is facilitated by Certified Yoga Teacher Stephanie Sorensen, with the assistance of her husband Nicolas Sorensen, LMT. The Bodhi Yoga studio is located at Cottontree Square in Provo, next to the old Pizza Factory. It's an upstairs loft space and is oh-so beautiful.
*Couples do not need to be romantically inclined. This workshop is appropriate for siblings, parent-child, roommates, friends, etc. Just bring a partner that you want to experience this journey with! This event is capped at 10 couples total.
