How to tell if your baby is too cold (other than taking their temperature).β
β
π€ The nape of baby's neck is cool to the touch.β
β
π€ Baby is irritable even when other needs are met.β
β
π€ Baby seems more tired than usual. They may be conserving energy and heat.β
β
π€ Slight mottling in the skin. Mottling is that purple lace-like pattern that sometimes happens when our skin is cold.β
β
π€ Slower heartrate. Babies slow their heartrate to conserve energy and heat.β
β
π€ Feet are cold to the touch. If you discover their feet are cold, touch the nape of their neck. Their neck is a much better indicator of true temperature. If it's cold, add a sleep sack. If it's not, put socks on their feet.β
