Having a Birth Film can help in healing

I've been to many births where the mama reported that having a birth film truly affected her postpartum outcome.

Here are some reason so why:

1. Capturing Precious Moments: A birth film allows you to capture and relive the precious moments of your baby's arrival into the world. It captures the emotions, expressions, and interactions that you might have missed or forgotten in the midst of the birthing process. When you're deep in the birthing hormones, you won't notice a lot of what's going on around you and definitely not from another person's perspective. Having the outside perspective can help you see what others saw during your birth.

2. Empowering Birth Experience: Birth can be an intense and transformative experience. Having a birth film allows you to witness your own strength and resilience during labor and delivery. Seeing yourself overcome challenges and bring your baby into the world can instill a sense of empowerment and confidence, which can positively impact your recovery and your bond with your baby.

3. Emotional Healing and Processing: Birth can be an emotional journey, and sometimes the intensity of the experience can leave lingering emotions. Watching a birth film can provide a safe space to process and heal emotionally. It allows you to reflect on your journey. I personally do not stop the camera between the moment baby crowns to when baby is stable and breathing alone. This allows you to see moment by moment what happened as your baby entered the world. I've filmed a few tense births and these films have helped the parents see exactly what happened. That brought a LOT of peace!

4. Involving Loved Ones: A birth film can involve your partner, family, or support team in the birthing experience. It allows them to witness the miracle of birth and share in your joy and excitement. Involving loved ones in this way can deepen their connection to the baby and create lasting memories for everyone involved. It can also foster a sense of support and togetherness, which is crucial during the postpartum period.

5. Building Lasting Memories: A birth film serves as a tangible keepsake that you can cherish for years to come. It preserves the memories of your baby's birth in a way that photographs or verbal descriptions cannot fully capture. As your baby grows older, you can watch the film together, recounting their birth story, and strengthening the bond between you. The film becomes a part of your family's history and can be passed down through generations, creating a lasting legacy.
