Doulas don't replace your partner. We support them too.

Yes, our clients are our first priority. BUT, we support the heck out of the partners as well! How this may look:

🤍Doulas provide partners REASSURANCE. Usually that things are okay and that they don’t need to worry. This can be invaluable as many partners haven’t attended a birth before and so much of what is happening is new and unfamiliar.

🤍Doulas provide partners BREAKS. Bathroom breaks, meal breaks, breaks to grab things from the car, breaks to check in on older siblings/pets/etc, and sometimes even a break to take a nap. Labor can sometimes last 24-48 hours. These breaks are so important!

🤍Doulas provide partners IDEAS. As your doula has met with you several times before birth, they know all about your preferences and goals. Your doula will be able to offer individualized ideas for how to bring comfort to the laboring person, ideas for positions to encourage labor progress, ideas for ways to avoid certain interventions (if that is important to them), and ideas for support in those first 1-2 hours after birth.

When the birth partner is at their best and has access to these ideas, breaks, and reassurance, they are able to support the laboring person in more significant and meaningful ways. We remember the births of our babies for the rest of our lives - you both deserve the type of support a doula provides! ❤️
