The problems of a one-size-fits-all approach to #childbirth are reflected in our abysmal #maternalmortality , #infantmortality , and #birthtrauma rates. π
One of the shifts - and this is just ONE of the many shifts - that needs to take place (and is often part of the differences in care between a true #midwifery model versus medical model of #birth ) is the need to focus on an individualized approach to #pregnancy , birth, and #postpartum - the whole way through. π
An individualized approach could look like
π a #birtheducator or a clinical provider getting back to you efficiently and personally to answer your questions
π a #doula reaching out to you rather than waiting for you to reach out to them
π a #midwife or #ob sitting with you in #labor
π a #laboranddeliverynurse supporting you with a trauma-informed approach - even when they have no idea if there is trauma in your background
What would you add? What would you like to see or - better yet - what HAVE you seen in your care that makes feel heard, seen, and respected? π€°πΏππ«π»ππ«πΌππ€°πΌππ«πΎπ
