Doulas -Birth
Certified Doula
Hi, I'm Sara Pixton! I grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado and have now settled down long-term on the other side of the Rocky Mountains in Provo, UT. During my first pregnancy--with twins--I had a lot of questions, but wasn't always sure who to ask. My pregnancy and birth of my twins had several complications, and I'm so grateful that, in the end, all three of us were healthy and well. But looking back, I realize that I would have benefited from more emotional, physical, and informational support during my pregnancy, labor, and birth. I became a doula so that I can be that support for others! I love birth. Like hiking to a mountain's summit, giving birth pushes us past our perceived limits. It urges us to call on our inner strength and climb to new heights. And the journey's pinnacle, as we snuggle our new little babes to our skin, rushed with hormones that fill us with indescribable love, is truly life-changing. It's empowering to look back over the ascent and its challenges and say, "we did it!" I birthed my son through an unmedicated VBAC, and that experience was indescribably transformative and empowering. I came to know my life-giving power and fell in love with birth! I'm also an Applied Linguistics master's student at UMass Boston (online). I believe that there is a synergistic energy when my two passions—birth and language—come together, and I'm excited to share it with you! You can check out my work on the power of our words during birth at www.birthwords.com. Outside of doula-ing, I love spending time with my three awesome kids and my amazing husband! I love learning and have plans to be a lifelong student. Singing and yoga also bring me focus, balance, and joy. And when the mountains call, I just have to go hiking—preferably to the summit!
