Dr. Amy Schecter is both a physician and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Dr. Schecter is a Fellow of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine. She teaches medical students from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and is a mentor for interns in training to become certified IBCLC's. Dr. Schecter specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of tethered oral tissues (TOTs), including tongue ties and lip ties, as well as many other complicated breastfeeding issues. She is experienced with inducing lactation in non-gestational parents as well as treating common problems, such as low milk supply, slow weight gain, breast and nipple pain, and lactation-related skin conditions. Dr. Schecter has been providing lactation support for over 14 years. She breastfed her 4 children, including 3 with tongue ties. Dr. Schecter recognizes that every family is unique and has their own feeding goals and challenges. At Breastfeeding Medicine of NJ, we offer inclusive support to meet parents where they are.
